Soona Samsami, The NCRI US Representative

Exposing Iran’s Brutality: NCRI-US Representative Details Human Rights Abuses and Resistance Efforts

A Report on an Interview with Ms. Soona Samsami, U.S. Representative of the NCRI, conducted by Gary Scarano for UnderDogReport.com – July 25, 2025

Ms. Soona Samsami elaborated on the significant human rights violations occurring in Iran, stating that over 1,428 people have been executed since the current administration took office, many due to their political beliefs. She also mentioned that 15 activists associated with the principal opposition group within the NCRI, known as MEK, are currently on death row. These actions are part of the regime’s broader efforts to suppress dissent amid ongoing political, social, and economic crises.

The discussion also touched upon the Iranian regime’s history of deception regarding its nuclear weapons program and its destabilizing role in the Middle East. Ms. Samsami noted that there were 4,000 protests across various sectors of Iranian society last year alone, indicating growing resistance. She emphasized that the Iranian people understand the regime’s brutality towards its own citizens and its terrorist activities beyond its borders, including the mistreatment of Christians and other minorities as second-class citizens, and institutionalized violence against women and girls.

Ms. Samsami highlighted the NCRI’s role as a very organized, inclusive, and future-focused resistance movement working both inside and outside Iran. She stressed that the NCRI aims to expose the regime’s crimes, support the Iranian people’s uprisings, and promote a democratic alternative. This includes advocating for a secular republic based on civil liberty and gender equality, rejecting both monarchism and clerical rule. She pointed to the NCRI’s intelligence network, which notably exposed Iran’s clandestine nuclear sites in Natanz and Arak in 2002.

In closing, Ms. Samsami announced a large demonstration scheduled for September 23rd in New York City, coinciding with the Iranian regime officials’ visit to the United Nations. This demonstration is part of a two-week campaign for a “Free Iran” organized by thousands of Iranian-American communities across the United States. She urged everyone to join the demonstration, visit the NCRI’s website for news, and contact their members of Congress to morally support their advocacy work, clarifying that they are not seeking money or military intervention, but rather political recognition and moral support for the rights of the Iranian people.
