BEHIND THE IRAN HEADLINES Series, December 6, 2023, Alireza Jafarzadeh, NCRI-US Deputy Director
In the early hours of December 3, the snake of terrorism, whose head lies in Tehran, struck again, this time in Berlin, Germany.
The Representative Office of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI) was targeted with flammable material. Thanks to the quick response of office residents, a potential tragedy was averted. German police are currently investigating the incident.
This cowardly act of terror follows similar assaults on NCRI-affiliated offices in Paris last summer. Also, last month, Hon. Alejo Vidal-Quadras, former First Vice President of the European Parliament, a distinguished Spanish politician, and a longstanding advocate of the NCRI, was shot in broad daylight in Madrid. Mr. Vidal-Quadras has directly accused the Iranian regime of this attack.
Yielding to Tehran, has only empowered its fundamentalist terrorist regime. The Iranian Resistance has been a prime target of Tehran’s terrorism, both domestically and internationally.
Let us not forget that a convicted terrorist diplomat, Asadollah Assadi, who was sentenced to 20 years by a Belgian court, for bringing a powerful bomb from Iran to target a large gathering of the Iranian Resistance in Paris was returned to Iran earlier this year, in a red-carpet welcome by the world’s leading state-sponsor of terrorism.
The Iranian people and their organized Resistance have dedicated all their domestic, international, and diplomatic capabilities to removing the head of the snake of global terrorism and war in Tehran. Western capitals need to abandon their policy of appeasement towards Tehran and take the following actions:
- Designate the IRGC as a terrorist entity and enforce this designation;
- Reinstate all UN Security Council Resolution sanctions against the regime; Place the regime under Chapter VII of the UN Charter; and
- Recognize the Iranian people’s right to overthrow the regime and the efforts of the Iranian youths resisting the terrorist IRGC.
The free world should serve as an enabler of the Iranian people’s aspirations, rather than rewarding their oppressive rulers with appeasement.
