Professor Hossein Sadeghpour
Professor Hossein R. Sadeghpour is a leading theoretical physicist and Director of the Institute for Theoretical Atomic, Molecular and Optical Physics (ITAMP), based at the Center for Astrophysics | Harvard & Smithsonian.
His work spans the frontiers of AMO physics—from ultracold atoms and Rydberg interactions to precision measurements, light–matter interactions, and quantum many-body phenomena.
Sadeghpour also serves as a Senior Scientist at the Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory and a Senior Research Fellow in Harvard’s Department of Astronomy, reflecting his long-standing role in advancing theory that informs laboratory experiments and astrophysical observations alike. He is widely cited for seminal contributions to collision processes, quantum control, and ultracold molecular physics.
Beyond research leadership, he is a frequent lecturer and advisor to programs shaping the next generation of quantum scientists. Professor Sadeghpour’s career embodies scholarly rigor, community building, and a sustained commitment to discovery at the intersection of fundamental physics and emerging quantum technologies.
